Bitget Launches Second Annual Anti-Scam Month Initiative

TLDR

  • Bitgetโ€™s Anti-Scam Month launched on June 3, 2025.
  • Hackers stole $257 million in May 2025 alone.
  • Deepfakes could cause over $25 billion in crypto scams.

Bitget, a significant player in the cryptocurrency exchange landscape, has launched its second annual Anti-Scam Month as of June 3, 2025. This initiative targets the increasing wave of cybercrime, particularly in the crypto space.

In May 2025 alone, hackers successfully stole approximately $257 million, primarily through large-scale protocol hacks exploiting flawed smart contracts. A notable portion of the stolen funds, about $162 million, was either frozen or recovered.

Key Collaborators and Their Contributions

Bitget collaborates with SlowMist, a blockchain security firm, and Elliptic, a compliance analytics platform, in this initiative. Together, they have published the Anti-Scam Report 2025 as part of this campaign.

Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, leads the initiative. She highlighted the challenges faced by the cryptocurrency market due to advancing technologies. The collaboration aims to tackle these urgent issues affecting social, economic, and cultural aspects of life.

Campaign Components and Activities

The Anti-Scam Month includes several initiatives such as the publication of the Anti-Scam Report 2025. This report provides data-driven insights on emerging threats in the crypto world.

Additionally, live Q&A sessions on X Spaces (formerly Twitter) have been arranged, enabling interaction with security experts. Complementing these activities are educational materials designed to aid users in staying alert against scams.

Long-Term Fraud Prevention Efforts

This marks the second year of Bitgetโ€™s Anti-Scam Month. Previously, Bitget launched a social campaign in Vietnam in 2024 to educate the public on secure cryptocurrency usage. The campaign utilized posters and banners to convey its message.

Bitget plans to evaluate the effectiveness of these educational strategies and expand similar campaigns to other major cities worldwide. The previous campaign strategy in Vietnam provides a foundation for this broader rollout.

Addressing Future Threats in Crypto

A report from Bitget Research indicates that deepfakes could account for 70% of total crypto scams within two years. This represents a significant potential loss of over $25 billion in 2024 alone.

While specific assets affected by such frauds arenโ€™t mentioned, the campaign appears to address a broad spectrum of potential threats across the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The initiative reflects Bitgetโ€™s commitment to mitigating risks.
